Dr Phil Williams
Dr Phil Williams is clinical lead for anaesthesia and critical care. He has been at East Surrey Hospital since his appointment as a consultant anaesthetist in 1995. He trained at Southampton University Medical School. His anaesthetic training included a registrar rotation through Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte’s, Ealing and The Royal National Throat, Nose & Ear Hospitals; and a senior registrar rotation through Guy’s and Lewisham Hospitals. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1991.
His clinical interests include anaesthesia for difficult intubation, total intravenous anaesthesia, vascular anaesthesia and ultra sound guided regional anaesthetic blocks.
Throughout his career at SASH he has also been actively involved in training and supporting junior doctors training in anaesthesia. He has been college tutor for the Royal College of Anaesthetists, training program director for St George’s School of Anaesthesia (London Deanery) and regional advisor (Royal College of Anaesthetists) for South West Thames.
He relaxes by training his German Shepherd dog Sadie.
