Thayalan qualified from Cardiff Dental Hospital in 2000 and has held various Senior House Officer positions in dentistry. He sought specialisation in Paediatric Dentistry at Royal London Dental Hospital and completed his Specialist Registrar training to be awarded a Membership in Paediatric Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons, England and entered the specialist list in Paediatric Dentistry in 2008.In 2010 after further training in Paediatric Dentistry at Eastman Dental Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital he was awarded a Fellowship in Paediatric Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow.
His areas of specialist interest are management of anxious children, oral surgery,management of dental anomalies, dental trauma and care of medically and physically compromised patients. He is currently:
• Deputy Chief of Surgery – Surrey and Sussex NHS Health Care Trust.
• Deputy chair The Cultural Inclusion Champions network steering group
