Miss Shamaela Waheed was appointed consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at SASH in November 2013. She has a strong background in oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery having previously been a consultant at the renowned Royal Marsden Hospital.
She studied medicine at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School where she undertook an intercalated BSc and was awarded a First Class Honours Degree. She underwent Specialist Registrar Surgical training in the South West Thames region.
Miss Waheed was appointed clinical lecturer in Surgery at Bart’s Hospital where she undertook a period of Research. She is a clinical lecturer at the London Deanery for Breast trainees and is an educational and clinical supervisor. She teaches on Oncoplastic Skills Courses run by the Deanery and the Marsden.
Miss Waheed runs breast clinics and operating lists at East Surrey Hospital. She performs the full remit of oncoplastic breast surgery, specialising in breast reconstruction using skills to minimise the cosmetic impact of breast cancer surgery and to preserve breast aesthetics wherever possible.
