Dr Desikan has been a consultant anaesthetist at SASH since October 2006. His special interest include intensive care; major surgery and enhanced recovery programme (ERP). He deals with patients requiring anaesthetic and critical care services. He shares responsibility with his consultant colleagues for patients in the intensive care & high dependency units.

His clinical sessions involve peri-operative anaesthetic management of patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal, major laparoscopic lower gastrointestinal, ENT and emergency surgery.

He is the clinical lead for organ donation (CLOD) at SASH.

He is an educational supervisor for anaesthetic trainees and module director for medical students from St George’s and Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

He did his basic medical education in India followed by a year of general medical and paediatric training. He did anaesthetic training from JIPMER in India and St George’s School of Anaesthesia in London.
