Dr F Van Damme, M.B.,Ch.B., FRCA
Dr Van Damme is a consultant anaesthetist and the lead for acute pain service at East Surrey Hospital.
He trained at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa qualifying in 1994. In South Africa he developed a keen interest in major trauma and pre-hospital care. He trained as an anaesthetist at St. George’s Hospital, Tooting after joining the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance for a year, and qualified as an anaesthetist in January 2011. He joined SASH in February 2011.
He is still an Emeritus Doctor with KSS Air Ambulance. With his major trauma interest comes an interest in acute pain management. He is currently part of a team of three consultants and two nurse practitioners running the In-patient pain service at East Surrey Hospital.
In his spare time he is a keen fly fisherman and Sussex Rugby football referee.
