Mr Paras Jethwa was appointed to the Trust in 2008. He is a Consultant in Upper Gastrointestinal and Laparoscopic Surgery.

He graduated from St George's Hospital medical school and completed his higher specialist training in the West Midlands. Prior to joining SASH he gained international expertise in Western Australia in a dedicated laparoscopic and Upper GI unit.

He is the lead for the day case cholecystectomy (gallstones surgery) service and was one of the first surgeons in the UK to perform single site (scarless) surgery. He became a council member of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons in 2009.

Specialist interests include gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, laparoscopic hernia fixation and he recently established the laparoscopic adrenalectomy service.

He is the Surgical tutor at SASH for the KSS deanery and he has a particular interest in improving surgical training at all levels.
