Dr Gary Mackenzie is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, IBD lead and a Colorectal Cancer Screening Colonoscopist. He has an interest in IBD, acid reflux and minimally invasive diagnostics. He is an endoscopy trainer and now a mentor within the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
He has set up and runs both the local capsule endoscopy and pH & manometry services for the investigation of the small bowel disease, acid reflux and swallowing disorders.
He trained at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London after obtaining a first class honours degree in epidemiology and statistics from the University of London. Subsequently he has been awarded a PhD from University College London for studies into gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, Barrett's oesophagus and the development of cancer.
His gastroenterology training included experience at Kings and the Royal Free Liver Units, UCH and Royal London Hospitals in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He has clinics at East Surrey and at Horsham Hospitals.
