Meeting a... Medical Team Lead and Oncology Dietitian
Who are you: Katie O’Reilly.
Summarise your role: I lead a team of five medical dietitians and manage the SASH oncology dietetic service. I see complex medical patients on the wards and oncology outpatients. I am also one of the department student leads.
What do you find challenging about your role: It can be challenging or upsetting when I see oncology patients who are very unwell or approaching the end of their lives.
What do you find rewarding: It is rewarding when I receive thanks or compliments from patients or when I feel that I have made a positive difference to patients with the plans I put in place!
What do you enjoy outside of work: I enjoy baking, travelling and trying new foods.
