Non-urgent advice: Received a letter from us?

We are currently writing to patients who are waiting for an appointment, procedure or test at our hospitals for longer than we would normally expect.

Our aim is to be here for you if you do contract COVID-19 and require hospital care, but also to treat you and your family safely for other health conditions while this pandemic continues.

You can read about changes to our service in relation to COVID-19 here.

Waiting times for appointments, procedures or tests

During the last 12 months our hospitals have been responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in our local area. We have continued to provide urgent care for our patients during this time, but have had to make some difficult decisions about delaying non-emergency operations, outpatient appointments and investigations.

It will take some time to bring our services back to the levels they were at before the pandemic. This may mean that some patients will need to wait longer than we would like. Thank you for your patience, and please know that we are doing everything we can to resume our services in a safe way.

If we need to reschedule your appointment, surgery or test we will contact you to notify you and explain why. We will either provide a new date for your appointment or advise you when we expect to be able to contact you to re-arrange your appointment and provide you with details of who to contact whilst you are waiting.

We take all reasonable steps to avoid cancelling appointments if they have been cancelled before however, this is unfortunately sometimes necessary and we apologise for any inconvenience caused during this difficult time.

What this delay means for you

We are carefully prioritising all of our patients. This means we assess the impact of any delay you are experiencing, and care is prioritised for patients at the greatest risk.

This means we may not be able to give you a concrete answer on how long you will wait. We apologise for any frustration and disappointment this causes.

Please find below further information and advice on what you should do if you are worried about changes in your condition.
