Alvaro is a housekeeper at SASH's East Surrey Hospital. On the first ever National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day, Alvaro shares how he plays a big part in helping us to deliver excellent care every day.

Summarise your role.
My role can vary every day. I make sure our buildings are clean and tidy, and help with equipment and supplies - you might see me in the corridors of East Surrey Hospital cleaning our floors!
What do you find challenging about your role?
It's hard for me to see people suffering and I'd like to be able to help them.
What do you find rewarding?
That I contribute to providing a safe, clean and comfortable environment that supports patients, visitors and staff. I also have good work relationships!
What do you enjoy outside of work?
Spending time with my family. Family is very important to me. I am also enjoying being a grandad to my grandson. I also enjoy staying active by going to the gym and playing football with friends.
