We are extremely grateful for all of the support we have received from our local community as we respond to coronavirus.

Our staff would like to say a huge thank you for all of the donations we have received.

To help us manage the generous offers that have been made and the enquiries we are receiving, please review the information below before sending anything to the hospital or getting in touch.

Food donations

We wanted to thank all the local businesses that have made donations to our teams over the past few weeks – we are incredibly overwhelmed by the generosity of our local community. We have received significant amounts of food which has been gratefully received by all of our staff. To support us to manage deliveries, if you wish to donate food please could you ensure that you have arranged this with the Trust prior to making any deliveries to us – this is particularly important with any donations of hot food. Where deliveries have not been pre-arranged we will unfortunately not be able to accept these. To arrange a delivery please contact sash.supportingyourhospital@nhs.net. If you have an urgent need to distribute surplus stock and have not arranged a delivery, please consider food banks and other donation points.

Scrubs

We are grateful for all of the people who have been in touch asking if we need scrubs to be sewn.  We do not require individuals to send in scrubs. Any orders for new scrubs are handled centrally by our procurement team so that they meet our guidelines and are usable. The procurement team are working with a number of national and local manufacturers and groups to make sure we have the scrubs that we need.

Knitted hearts

We have been touched by the number of people who have offered to make knitted hearts for patients and their families to have while visiting to the hospital is restricted. It is not currently possible for us to use these, so while we are extremely grateful, please do not send any to the hospital. Please be assured that wherever possible we are making sure loved ones can visit patients in certain circumstances, such as those who are approaching the end of their life. We are also making better use of technology to support people to keep in touch with their families and carers while in hospital and have put in place new processes for loved ones to send messages directly to patients they are not able to visit.

Other donations

If you have heard that we need certain items please do check with us before sending anything in. You can get in touch via sash.supportingyourhospital@nhs.net.
