Bernie said:
“Switchboard is a 24-hour department, much like ED, so we are always on hand to take calls and support people. We take it turns to work Christmas Day. I’m working Boxing Day this year, but it’s never lonely. We’re a busy department dealing with incoming calls from patients and also assisting internal staff with enquiries. We work very closely with many other teams, so we all pull together to work as one team. Regardless of what day of the year it is, we’re always on hand to assist family members wanting to check on their loved ones, as well as monitor alarms for the hospital and take emergency calls.”
