Clinics

Dedicated suspected skin cancer clinics are held every day, morning or lunchtime, at East Surrey, Crawley and Horsham Hospitals. Patients are referred by GPs under the Two Week Rule. Cancer types, diagnosed and treated, are malignant melanomas, squamous cell carcinomas and basal cell carcinomas.

Treatment

Treatments for skin cancer include photodynamic therapy, which takes place at East Surrey Hospital and Crawley and is led by our nurse specialists.

MOHS surgery, which is microscopically controlled surgery used to treat common types of skin cancer, is undertaken by Dr Sandeep Cliff, MDT lead for skin cancer, at St Helier’s Hospital, Carshalton.

Sentinel lymph node biopsy is performed at Royal Surrey Hospital, Guildford and St George’s Hospital, Tooting.

Referrals

All GP referral letters, except those referred though the Choose & Book System or Two Week Rule method, should be sent direct to:

Outpatient Booking Office
East Surrey Hospital
Canada Avenue
Redhill, Surrey RH1 5RH

Please do not send these direct to a consultant, medical secretary or any other department. You can of course make the actual outpatient referral letter out to a specific consultant. The Outpatient Booking Office is responsible for processing all referrals for outpatient appointments which then initiates the patient’s 18 week RTT status.

Outpatient Referrals made under the Two Week Rule method should be faxed immediately to 01737 231733.
