Patients with suspected cancer are referred to the head and neck lump clinic:

Thursdays, 9.30am – 12.30pm
East Surrey Hospital
Lead clinician: Mr John Brookes

Prior to each clinic, at 8.30am the multidisciplinary team for ear, nose and throat (ENT) cancer holds a live conference link with the ENT oncology team at the St Luke’s Centre, based at Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford, to discuss cases.

Diagnostic procedures are carried out at East Surrey Hospital – core biopsies are taken on the day where clinically appropriate. Radiotherapy and final surgical procedures take place in the St Luke’s Cancer Centre.

Patients with suspected cancer are referred by their GP under the Two Week Rule and are seen either in the Head and Neck Lump Clinic, or at one of the ENT clinics at Crawley and Horsham, within 14 days.

Referrals

All GP referral letters, except those referred though the Choose & Book System or Two Week Rule method, should be sent direct to:

Outpatient Booking Office
East Surrey Hospital
Canada Avenue
Redhill, Surrey RH1 5RH

Please do not send referral letters direct to a consultant, medical secretary or any other department. You can of course make the actual outpatient referral letter out to a specific consultant. The Outpatient Booking Office is responsible for processing ALL referrals for outpatient appointments which then initiates the patient’s 18 week RTT status.

Outpatient referrals made under the Two Week Rule method should be faxed immediately to 01737 231733.
