The Discharge Lounge is located at the East Entrance on the ground floor of East Surrey Hospital. The lounge can accommodate 26 patients seated chairs, and 3 patients in beds. It provides a safe environment for patients that have been clinically discharged whilst they wait for take-home medications and/or transport.
During times of increased operational pressure, the Discharge Lounge has been identified as an overnight stay area. Under this circumstance, patients who will definitely be discharged, or transferred to non-acute services the following day, would spend the night within this area. The area accommodates up to seven beds.
