We hosted a conference on Norovirus last month where we invited our community partners to join us to decide the best way to prevent and control the spread of Norovirus this year. Nothing like this has ever been done before, and is just one way that we are proactively trying to tackle the virus this winter.
Representatives from nursing and care homes, the ambulance service, Public Health England and other local NHS trust’s all attended to work with us in seeking a common goal. The group looked at ways of avoiding admitting people with Norovirus symptoms, patient transport, and the control of the illness in care and nursing homes.
We had to restrict visiting on two wards last week due to several patients with diarrhoea. These wards are open again now after being clear of symptoms for over 48 hours, but we remain vigilant to infection prevention measures.
