Swapping East Surrey Hospital for seven days in the saddle is Marie Miles who is heading off on a charity cycle ride from Vietnam to Cambodia.
The phlebotomist hopes her 400 kilometre journey will raise money for a charity close to her heart. Marie, from Merston, said: “I am doing the ride for Bloodwise, which is Lymphoma and Leukaemia research for children, in memory of my godson who died of leukaemia at the age of 16.
“When I turned 60 I decided instead of having a party I wanted to do something for myself and other people and this seemed like a great way to do it. But I am not a fanatical cyclist or very fit so this will definitely be a challenge.”
