Trauma and Orthopaedics

The Trauma and Orthopaedic team provide specialist treatment for injuries of the bones whether congenital or acquired disorders of joints. Procedures performed include hand, foot, ankle, spinal, shoulder and elbow surgery, total hip and knee replacements, resurfacing, and revision. The Trust is a tertiary centre for reconstructive surgery. The team also treats the associated soft tissues of the bones including, muscles, ligaments, and nerves. The department provides a high quality 24 hours Trauma and multi-disciplinary orthopaedics service.

There are eight specialist consultants with eleven middle grade doctors. The teams perform around 5,000 operations a year at East Surrey Hospital and the Crawley Hospital Day Surgery Unit.
