This specialist service provides Dento-alveolar (teeth) and Oral & Maxillofacial (disease of the mouth, face and neck) diagnosis. Treatments under local anaesthetic are carried out in the Oral and Facial Unit; daycase general anaesthetic and sedation is carried out in the day care centres of East Surrey and Crawley Hospitals. Maxillofacial procedures requiring an overnight hospital stay are carried out at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.
Our team also provides orthognathic treatment (corrective jaw surgery) in conjunction with the orthodontic department.
GPs and medical practitioners can refer patients for dento-alveolar treatment either via the choose and book system or sending a referral letter to Outpatients Booking Office.
Patients over 16 years old with dento-alveolar problems must be referred by their general dentist direct to the Triage Administrator, Dento Alveolar Service, Aldershot Centre for Health, Hospital Hill, Aldershot, Hants GU11 1AY . Patients under 16 can be referred by the dental practitioner direct to our Oral & Maxillofacial consultants.
Patients with maxillofacial problems can be referred by letter from the dental practitioner or medical GP direct to the Outpatient Booking Office.
The Outpatient Assessment Service is open Mondays, 2-5pm, and Thursdays, 9am-1pm, at East Surrey Hospital
All GP Referral Letters, except those referred though the Choose & Book System or Two Week Rule method, should be sent direct to the Outpatient Booking Office, East Surrey Hospital, Canada Avenue, Redhill RH1 5RH. Please do not send these direct to a consultant, medical secretary or any other department. You can of course make the actual outpatient referral letter out to a specific consultant.
The Outpatient Booking Office is responsible for processing ALL referrals for outpatient appointments which then initiates the patient’s 18 week RTT status.
