Update on the East Surrey Macmillan Cancer Support Centre during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak:
The Macmillan Centre at East Surrey remains open with staff present 9.30am to 4.30pm each day. Our phone line 01737 304176 will be in use, and our email address firstname.lastname@example.org will be monitored too, so everyone can keep in touch with us during this time.
Sadly we cannot offer any therapies or group activities for the coming months in line with government advice around public gatherings.
We are still keen to support cancer patients and their families and friends, so please do feel free to visit the centre if you are at the hospital.
As with the rest of the hospital we ask stay at home if you, or someone you live with, have either:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

The East Surrey Macmillan Cancer Support Centre, based at East Surrey Hospital, opened in January 2016 and was developed through a partnership between Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Centre was designed by experts and people affected by cancer and offers those affected by cancer additional holistic care in a friendly, informal and non-clinical environment. It is open to patients; carers; family members and friends and is a drop-in service, no appointment nor referral is needed.
The Centre is open Monday to Friday, between 9.30am – 4.30pm. Staff and volunteers provide a welcoming atmosphere along with practical advice, emotional support or simply a listening ear, at any stage for those living with cancer.
