Smoking is not permitted inside the buildings and is prohibited at the entrances and close to hospital buildings. This supports the NHS in promoting health and ensures that staff, patients, volunteers and contractors are protected from the dangers of passive smoking.
The NHS Commitment to you
When you are in this hospital this is what you should expect:
- to be treated with respect and that your privacy and dignity will be maintained at all times
-
to have a clear explanation of your condition, to be kept informed of the different aspects of treatment, including medicines and options available to you
-
to be asked for written consent to any operation or procedure; this is called "informed” consent because you should fully understand what is to happen before you sign the document
-
to have relatives or carers informed of your progress if you wish and give us consent to share the information
-
that the information in your records will remain confidential and only be used for the purposes for which it was collected (see below)
-
to see your medical records if you wish. You will need to write to the Health Records Officer at the Trust and may be charged a small fee
The Trust, like all hospitals, may share information about you (on paper / electronically) to assist with your care. We may also share information about you with the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) and other health professionals, e.g. your GP / ambulance service when investigating incidents or adverse events that directly affected you. Personal details will not be used for any other purpose without permission. We may also use anonymised information about the care / treatment of patients for the benefit of others or for quality control. This may include research, for audit and investigation into incidents and adverse events. For further information, contact the Information Governance & Security Manager or the Caldicott Guardian on ext: 1710.
