Nuclear medicine

SASH has its nuclear medicine department at East Surrey Hospital.  This operates two Gamma cameras, one single headed and one dual-headed, and offers a variety of imaging uses to detect a number of problems including cancers, rheumatism, embolism, adrenal, lung and heart defects. The patient is injected with a small amount of radioactive substance which emits gamma radiation that can be picked up by the camera.
