Diagnostic imaging

The radiology department carries out around 238,600 examinations a year, a figure which is increasing by 8% year on year.

SASH continually upgrades and invests in its radiology equipment. In the last 18 months, all its 12 ultrasound scanners were replaced with newer models. East Surrey Hospital is also the first in the country to have the latest wider body MRI scanner which makes the experience more pleasant for larger patients as well as having the ability to do a faster scan.

The 150-strong team, which includes radiographers, radiologists (specialist consultants) sonographers, imaging assistants, nurses and administration staff, pride themselves on having one of the fastest turn around times in the south east for getting patients' X-ray results back to GPs.
