The Trust was formed on 1 April 1998, as a result of a merger between the East Surrey Healthcare NHS Trust and Crawley Horsham NHS Trust. It is a major local employer, with a diverse workforce of around 3,300 providing healthcare services to a growing population of around 420,000. The Trust has extensive, modern facilities including MRI and CT scanners, intensive and coronary care units and is the designated major incident centre for Gatwick Airport.
